I created a UI/UX concept integrating research into the Seek plant and animal identification app.

The Seek App

Seek is a plant & animal  identification app that encourages people of all ages to get out and look at nature. The app was created by the nonprofit iNaturalist, which collects an online database of plant and animal observations by citizens for use in research. Users of Seek also have the option to upload their observations to the iNaturalist database.

Research Integration

I created an addition to Seek that allows users to browse research on identified species. The module integrates research papers that use data from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) database, which Seek gives users the opportunity to upload their observations to. In this way, the addition of research papers into the Seek app not only improves research accessibility, but also encourages citizen science.
