Lives Never Touched
Exhibition Design & Motion Design / 2025I conceptualized an exhibition design based around found objects collected over the course of a semester.
Exhibition Concept
The exhibition explores the unknown lives of strangers through sentimental objects paired with motion design and audio. The objects represent stories never fully finished, inviting the veiwer to contemplate what can never be known about the lives of those they pass every day.
Audio & Motion Design
Objects are coupled with instrumental music produced by August Halter for the project. This music emotionally represents the lives the objects came from in a universal language, speaking for the items' owners in their absence. The full song can only be heard when all objects are interacted with, mirroring how the more one reaches out to new connections, the more full their life will become. The collective audio waveform is projected onto the floor in the middle of the room, providing a visual indicator of how full the audio is. The wave begins small and nondescript when only one object is interacted with, but as more are seen, it morphs into a clear waveform, revealing itself to the viewer. Each side of the room also has a waveform for its objects, enhancing the immersive experience.
The video explains more about how the exhibition is executed.
