THE ASK:
Design an album cover based around a single song.
THE ANSWER:
An album cover for the song "Falling" by Mansionair, inspired by the “red string of fate” referenced in the song. The cover is messy and chaotic to suggest a physical, rather than digital, creation, emphasizing the human experience portrayed in the song.

PROCESS

Image Research
I wanted to represent the people bound by fate as mannequins, to show that it could be any two people who end up tied together. I sourced mannequin images from Unsplash and Pexels.
Photoshop collage
I masked out about twenty mannequin images and combined them, along with mock newspaper cutting text, in Photoshop. The idea was to create something that looked hand-made, driving home the human soul of the song.

Pinning in DIMENSION
I added red pushpins, using a model I found online, to the image in Dimension to get a 3D look.
FINAL touches
Lastly, I added strings in Photoshop using puppet warp, gave them shadows, and and lowered the overall contrast of the image.
